some of the people i respect smoke cigarettes before singing their ballads. they talk about pot and video games. they sing about being drunk. and say we're just dumbshits compared to phil ochs.

and they are.

and they still speak honestly; but i'm not so sure i want to write like they write anymore. i don't want to live in the manner they live.

and it's weird to be hearing ben, and prefer to speak to someone i'm sitting with.
