i get terribly suspicious when i read my old writing and start to think that certain pieces were only able to be good because i wrote them before i started harvard or when i had a steady job or after having sex in the morning and completely forget that there's an essence of me that brett once found in something i wrote about something that happened on the opposite side of the country a month before i even met him.
