back in dc, those punks i used to know might have boycotted the big fourth of july with their own vegan potluck: someone would have brought oreos (which are vegan, but more disturbing for being so); someone would have brought sparklers. in oberlin, we left the barbeque for a better view of the fireworks: climbing up the roof of one college building only as a means of climbing up the next. we stopped when they started: each ohio town's own firework display all on display for us around the horizon. none of us holding cameras, only beers.
