sunday afernoon, i sat with my hands holding my feet on the ground with a panting bike courrier. he told me that he was hit by a bus in february and that the race was hurting him because he was trying too hard by acting macho with the rest but didn't tell me his name. and i listened while those sierra club cnn watchers sat behind me and told him 'i've thought about being a bike courrier' and i then i added for them 'obviously not as a career.'
