open houses and high ceilings invite resounding voices and we've accepted the burden talking from different floors and different closed rooms in voices that are just for saying what we need to say. this home is probably why i dream of a small apartment with a small, full bed and our voices, paced marathon runners, narrating our old favorite stories picked off of our own shared shelves.
