the head of my englsh department hitch hiked across the country with her husband when she was eighteen. and, that could work. but i feel like going away alone right now. i could train hop or steal my own car. and i could go to chicago to bloomington to boston to philadelphia to where-ever-i-please. i'd fill my backpack with books. not calculus. not us history. not biology. but books that the authors actually cared about. i'd talk to everyone i see. i wonder who i would begin to miss. and who would begin to miss me.
