beatrice and i were friends when we were younger. (two years ago). yesterday she said, 'annie, hug me' and i did.

there's something about friendship that requires risk. makes it always okay to break the silence. start again. demands. that are happily complied with. that type of compliance feels good. hugs. cookies. walks in the cold. bad shows. late nights.

that is. if you really are a friend. and not waiting for someone else.
